  17. Since I started this thread, I though I would give an update.  I
  18. now have several <two> machine dedicated tcp/ip over ethernet
  19. (both coax and 10BaseT) running:

  21. MsKermit <--> Ckermit (OS2 3.0)
  22. MsKermit <--> Ckermit (SCO UNIX 3.0 ODT)
  23. MsKermit <--> MsKermit (PCDOSV 6.3)

  25. Performance has been good, but not as good as I expected.
  26. Despite some effort expended in tuning, I have not been able to
  27. get more than 25000 <-> 30000 characters/second.  Sure, this
  28. beats a serial link, but seems much less than a hardwired
  29. ethernet connect should deliver.

  31. Hardware on the OS2/UNIX side: 486 dx266 with 20 megs ram, ne2000
  32. clone card.

  34. Hardware on the portable side: Att globalyst 130 486 dx4 at 100
  35. MHZ, 12 megs ram, PCMCIA ne2000 clone card.
